Jennifer H. Carroll

Chicago Salmonella Lawyer

Attorney

Jennifer Carroll joined the legal team at Newland & Newland, LLP in October 2012. Before joining Newland & Newland, LLP Jennifer was an associate at a Chicagoland firm working in estate planning, probate, and general commercial litigation. She has also previously served as a guardian ad litem for disabled adults in guardianship cases in Lake County.

Since joining Newland & Newland, LLP, Jennifer’s primary focus has been foreclosure defense. Jennifer is one of the most experienced litigators in the field and has defended hundreds of people faced with losing their homes. She acted as the chairman of the Lake County Foreclosure Help Desk where she regularly volunteered helping homeowners navigate the foreclosure process and court system.

Jennifer has successfully helped homeowners save their property through loan modifications, reinstatements, and redemptions. In the course of her practice she has regularly represented clients in mediations focused on keeping her clients in their homes.

Through litigation Jennifer has also successfully obtained dismissals with prejudice of foreclosure actions. She has also been successful in using litigation to help negotiate redemptions and other home retention options even after the occurrence of a judicial sale.

In addition to helping homeowners retain their property, Jennifer has successfully negotiated hundreds of dignified exits for her clients. She has successfully obtained deficiency waivers on behalf of many of her clients, helping them avoid potential money judgments in amounts as high as six figures. She has also obtained cash for keys payments for many of her clients. These payments have provided clients with thousands and in some instances tens of thousands of dollars in relocation funds.

In addition to foreclosure defense, Jennifer is experienced in general civil and commercial litigation, post judgment proceedings, and also has a growing practice in probate.

Jennifer was born and raised in a small fishing town in Southeast Alaska. She moved to Oregon where she studied Sociology at Oregon State University in Corvallis before obtaining her Juris Doctorate at the University of Oregon School of Law in Eugene. While in law school Jennifer did internships with the Lane County Legal Aid Clinic, helping underserved populations with legal issues involving evictions, creditor collection actions, and social security and other benefits issues. She also interned with the Benton County District Attorney’s Office where she helped prosecute municipal violations and other criminal matters.

Jennifer now lives in the north Chicago suburbs and currently litigates in Cook, Lake, McHenry, DuPage, Will, and Kane Counties.
