Katrine R. Fleishman
Attorney
Katrine R. Fleishman’s (née Lazar) practice is focused in the areas of real estate and estate planning, including trusts, wills, and powers of attorney for health care and property.
Katrine helps her real estate clients – whether they are first time homebuyers, experienced investors or anyone in between – navigate the closing process, successfully closing thousands of real estate transactions. She works with her estate planning clients tailoring a plan for their future that fits their individual goals.
Katrine has been with Newland and Newland, LLP since 2015, and was made partner in 2022. In 2023, Katrine was named by Super Lawyers as an Illinois Rising Star. She has served as Co-Chair of the Lake County Bar Association Real Estate Committee since 2020 and was elected to the Board of Directors for the Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County for the 2023-2024 term.
Mrs. Fleishman volunteers with Wills for Heroes preparing estate plans for first responders and their families. She is also a member of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association, Lake County Bar Association Trusts and Estates Committee, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Wealth Counsel Illinois Forum.
Before joining Newland & Newland, LLP, Katrine was an associate at a Chicagoland firm where she began her practice in real estate, estate planning, probate, and elder law.
Mrs. Fleishman has worked extensively in public policy in the United States and the United Kingdom for the Scottish Parliament, the British House of Commons, the United States House of Representatives, and the United States Senate focusing primarily on issues affecting education, children, and families.
Katrine graduated from Wellesley College with a dual degree in Psychology and Political Science. She earned her master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science in Public Policy and Administration with a specialization in Public Management and Administration. Katrine obtained her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center where she was named a Dean's Scholar, Pro Bono Pledge honoree for substantial pro bono service, and participant in the Federal Legislation and Administrative Clinic.
Katrine lives in Vernon Hills with her husband and sons. She enjoys being a member of her HOA gardening committee and teaching her children how to cook.
